PORCELAIN VENEERS

It may be hard to smile when your teeth are uneven, chipped, or discolored.  If this is your problem, porcelain veneers could be the solution.

Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain bonded to the front surface of the teeth and are used to improve dark, misaligned, stained, or chipped teeth. They improve the shape and color of your teeth and give your smile a new look. The color of a porcelain veneer can be selected such that it makes dark teeth appear whiter. One of the benefits of porcelain veneers is they are made from a ceramic that has many similar properties to enamel.  Because of this, porcelain veneers appear very natural and realistic. The ceramic also makes the porcelain veneer's surface extremely smooth.  Porcelain veneers are relatively resistant to permanent stains. Another benefit of getting a porcelain veneer is they are relatively long lasting – often up to 10-15 years. Finally, compared to crowns, porcelain veneers require less extensive tooth reduction.

The procedure requires us to take an impression of your teeth after any necessary tooth reduction is accomplished. If needed, plastic temporary veneers are made. Once the bonding cement is between the veneer and your tooth, a light beam is used to harden it. Porcelain veneers require more than one visit because they are fabricated in a laboratory, but they have a longer life expectancy and color stability than regular bonding.
